Installing PrestaBlog

This guide walks you through installing PrestaBlog on your PrestaShop store. The module is compatible with all versions of PrestaShop, from 1.6 to 9.x.

Prerequisites & Compatibility

PrestaBlog has no specific prerequisites beyond those required by PrestaShop itself.

If your hosting is compatible with your version of PrestaShop, it will be compatible with PrestaBlog. The module relies exclusively on PrestaShop's native mechanisms and follows its technical standards.

In summary If PrestaShop runs correctly on your server, PrestaBlog will work too.

Best Practices Before Installation

As with any PrestaShop module installation, some general best practices are recommended.

  • Have a recent backup
    A complete backup of your site (files and database) is standard practice before any installation or update.
  • Ensure your site is working properly
    A healthy site allows for simple and trouble-free installation.
  • In case of issues, use a test environment
    If a problem occurs (often related to very intrusive third-party modules, especially SEO ones), a test environment helps quickly identify the source of the issue.
Tip This is not mandatory before installation, but an effective solution if needed. When in doubt, test first on a development environment.

Installation via PrestaShop Marketplace

Recommended method - On recent versions of PrestaShop (8 and 9), PrestaBlog can be installed directly from the back-office via the integrated Marketplace.

This method allows you to automatically install the module from your purchased products list on PrestaShop Addons.

Installation Steps

  1. Access the PrestaShop back-office
  2. Go to Modules > Marketplace or Modules > Module Manager
  3. Open your purchased products list
  4. Select PrestaBlog and start the installation
  5. Once installation is complete, clear the cache

Go to Advanced Parameters > Performance > Clear cache to properly finalize the installation.

Installation via ZIP File

If automatic installation via the Marketplace is not available, or on older versions of PrestaShop (1.6 and 1.7), installation can be done using the ZIP archive provided on PrestaShop Addons.

Installation Steps

  1. Download PrestaBlog from your Products area on PrestaShop Addons
  2. Access the PrestaShop back-office
  3. Go to Modules > Module Manager
  4. Click on Upload a module
  5. Upload the ZIP file
  6. Start the installation
  7. Clear the cache after installation
File size If you encounter an error during upload, check that your server allows files larger than 2 MB. Contact your host to increase upload_max_filesize and post_max_size if necessary.

Verifying the Installation

After installation, check the following:

  • The PrestaBlog module appears in the list of installed modules
  • The module is properly enabled (green button)
  • Blog access works from the front-office
  • The module administration interface is accessible
